Posted on: Nov. 1, 2016, noon According to OSHA forklift safety, on average over 100,000 workers are injured every year in forklift accidents. 35% of all forklift accidents involve unsuspecting workers in warehouse aisles who were either run over or pinned against another object. In most of these cases, there was no warning system in place to possibly prevent the accident from occurring. Under the OSHA Act, 29 u.s.c. § 654 (a)(1), also known as the general duty clause, to furnish employment and a place of employment, free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, where employees are exposed to hazards, including but not limited to, struck by, caught-in-between and crushing by the forklift. B56.1-2009 shows that industry recognizes this hazard and that equipping trucks with sound-producing and visual devices are feasible means to abate this hazard. An employer whose workplace presents this hazard and has not taken feasible steps to mitigate this hazard may be in violation of the general duty clause. A good safety policy stipulates the use of warning lights on all lift vehicles and in warehouse aisles as a warning to forklift operators that a worker is in the area. CAMPING SAFETY & LED LIGHTS
Posted on: July 12, 2018, 2:44 p.m. If you are like most people, summer means lots of outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing and camping. According to Forbes.com, camping is on the rise for this generation of millennials. The golden rule for outdoor activities is to always be prepared. Better to be safe than sorry. Whether you’re a veteran outdoorsman, avid hiker or occasional camper, safety in the outdoors should be an important concern. Today’s led products are important items to bring with you to the outdoors. Drawing little current and yielding high light intensity, when preparing for your outdoor activity think LED. Per its website, the US Forest Service suggests having a flashlight in your emergency kit, not only to provide light when the sun goes down but also to warn off dangerous animals. The site also lists proper clothing. Today, hats, beanies, headlamps and even glasses come equipped with leds. Some even have a flashing mode. These powerful devices often last anywhere from 5 to 12 hours or more before recharging or replacement of batteries. The New York State’s Department of Environmental Conservation lists online in its hiking safety recommendations another important guideline to follow. Most of us carry our smartphones with us these days but we should be cautioned against using them as a light source, as that will drain the battery and we will want to conserve our phone’s battery capacity for emergencies. A good led flashlight will yield ample hours of illumination with little drain on the batteries. Some led products, like the led road flare, have an SOS mode you can set the light to flash in case you get lost are or in trouble. Of course, led products are not only good for emergency situations but are excellent for general use as well. In a tent, a white led beacon could provide ample illumination for nighttime activities. An led clip-on light or pen light can be great for reading. Even though led products have great longevity it is still recommended that you bring extra batteries. We sometimes forget how much we rely on light to preform simply everyday functions. Want to mark off a particular area in your campground? A small battery powered led light is a perfect way to do it. Going mounting bike riding, a small led bike lamp would be an ideal accessory to add to your bike. There a wide variety of lights on the market based upon how much individual illumination you are looking for depending upon your particular situation. Camping lakeside for nighttime fishing may require more illumination than a small tent for example. Regardless of your choice, almost all led products on the market are very cost effective and most are small enough to carry in your pocket or bag without causing a significant inconvenience. So if you have not already, it may be a good time to check out your safety equipment and make sure you have the latest led products. Be prepared for the unexpected. The more prepared you are the better you will feel and the more you will enjoy your experience. Bringing led lights to the outdoors makes perfect sense, since their low energy consumption make them virtually indispensable. ENHANCED LOADING DOCK SAFETY

OHSA estimates at least 25% of all warehouse injuries occur in the loading dock area with the highest concentration involving forklift accidents. Every year, severe fall injuries occur when the truck pulls away while the forklift operator is still loading / unloading. Using remote controlled Red / Green indicator lights greatly reduces loading dock related accidents. Mounting 2 Red / Green lights high up on both sides of the loading dock walls allows forklift drivers and others, a clear line of sight while loading / unloading is taking place.
