Solar Crane Obstruction Lights Save Time and Money

Posted on: June 1, 2020, 10:09 a.m. With advances in reliability, demand for solar-powered crane obstruction lights over traditional 120V powered lights has grown substantially over the past 5 years. That is because solar-powered obstruction lights have a tremendous upside in saved operational costs relative to time, equipment and energy usage. Save time and labor: With solar power, there is no need to lay out and maintain voltage supply cables sometimes hundreds of feet long. Equipment costs: Line-powered obstruction lights require constant power at night. This usually requires the use of a diesel-powered generator all night long. Solar-powered lights eliminate the cost to buy and maintain a generator. Energy conservation and the reduction of carbon emissions. The use of solar power results in the reduction of energy usage through the elimination of burned fossil fuels. Lumastrobe is an established supplier of high quality, solar-powered obstruction lights to the crane and rigging market. Using Pole Mounted Warning Lights to Reduce Warehouse Accidents

Posted on: June 19, 2020, 11:01 a.m. Each year at least 20% of all warehouse accidents involve a forklift or other utility vehicle collision with unsuspecting pedestrians in poorly marked areas. A large percentage of accidents also involve slips and falls in poorly marked hazardous areas. Good safety policy involves the use of LED Warning Lights for the reduction of workplace accidents. LED warning lights are highly effective in illuminating work areas, providing a clear warning signal that a potential hazard is nearby. There are two commonly used LED safety products utilized in a warehouse environment to reduce workplace accidents. Pole mounted warning lights are easily transportable from one area to another and provide a stark warning that a forklift is operating nearby. At a height of over 5', the pole mounted LED warning light can be seen from a greater distance.  A ‘quick deploy’ LED perimeter warning system provides a clear warning  message for any hazardous condition present.  We recommend the use of a long life, battery powered LED strobe for either warning system. The battery powered strobe should have at least 600 hours life in flashing mode and 400 hours flashing in steady mode. You can find Lumastrobe's Pole mounted warning light "The Scepter" and the perimeter/barricade warning light system "The Guardian" in the battery powered section. Reference:  https://www.tmhnc.com/blog/how-to-prevent-warehouse-accidents Problem: Accidents with Pedestrians According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), nearly 20 percent of forklift accidents involve a pedestrian. That’s roughly 19,000 people injured each year. Solution: The best way to prevent warehouse accidents with pedestrians is with visual barriers such as: A quick-mount barricade or other barrier system (Gaurdian)  Signage warning the pedestrian they are entering a hazardous area Blue and red zone warning lights to designate an area where heavy equipment is approaching or operating  (Scepter) Read More >>

THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFETY WARNING LIGHTS IN THE FALL SEASON

Posted on: Oct. 7, 2020, 11:32 a.m.              As fall arrives and summer ends, there is less sunlight each day and thus greater need for increased safety measures. Warning lights fill the need for increased visibility among road workers, landscapers, fire and emergency crews as well as pedestrians. A new report from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) claim that 6,590 pedestrian fatalities occurred in 2019, a 30 year high. The risks are high and could include serious injury or death. Carrying a rechargeable led roadside flare kit will keep you safer if you get a flat on the side of the road and need to change your tire and/or wait for assistance. For worker crews and laborers, a couple of cones coupled with some battery powered led beacons can help keep your vehicles safely secured on the side of the road and on work sites, protected against costly and unnecessary damage. Many times during the fall season landscapers leave their trucks on the side of the roads. When it’s dark, it is not until the last moment that motorists can see the parked vehicle, leaving too much potential for driver error and accidents. With good safety warning lights as your insurance plan you can rest easy knowing you’ve done all you can to help prevent accidents.             But safety is not just an issue relegated to the motorists themselves. Joggers, walkers and trick-or-treaters can benefit from safety lights as well. A simple led clip light and led beanie could a step further in ensuring your own safety. The reduced visibility that comes with the cooler temperatures of fall should not be underestimated. Safety begins and ends with preparation.  With both motorists and pedestrians each doing their part, we can all prevent unnecessary damage and injury and save lives.             There is no shortage of choices and the monetary costs are not high, especially when contrasted with the consequences. In the workplace alone, according to the National Safety Council, there were 4,493 preventable workplace deaths in 2018 and over 170 billion dollars in costs resulting from preventable workplace accidents. Just how many of these deaths could have been prevented and how many dollars could have been saved with safety warning light measures is unknown, but any number would be a step in right direction.  With the fall season already here it’s time to invest in safety preparation. Lumastrobe carries a full line of safety warning lights for all applications. Read More >>

“GLOW IN THE DARK” EXIT DOOR KIT

Posted on: Feb. 9, 2021, 3:41 p.m. Think of any facility that has multiple floor stairwells with a landing and exit door at every floor.  Parking garages, hotels, schools, warehouses, office buildings, factories, etc. For electrically lit EXIT signs, the fire code mandates they must have battery backup. Depending on the age and size of the facility, maintaining the backup batteries on EXIT signs mounted above and below exit doors on multiple floors can be an enormous time consuming and expensive proposition. Some facilities bring in contractors just to replace and maintain the backup EXIT sign batteries.  Glow in the Dark EXIT Door Kits present a very cost effective, permanent solution towards maintaining a safe, visible exit pathway in the event of an emergency, such as fire and/or loss of power to the facility. A basic Glow in the Dark EXIT Door Kit includes glow in the dark peel and stick overlays for the top and bottom EXIT signs, as well as enough luminescent tape to cover the entire door perimeter. The Glow in the Dark EXIT Kit is code compliant ICC/IBC/IFC/ULand exceeds the glow requirements for ASTM E2072.  See the following link for Lumastrobe’s “Glow in the Dark” EXIT Door Kit and related products.  https://www.lumastrobe.com/products-1/by-category/glow-exit-sign-kit-1/ Read More >>
